Water & Gas Worx handles laundry plumbing, laundry drainage, garage conversions, and granny flat fit-outs across Auckland. Whether it's a simple tub replacement or a full wet area build from scratch, we cover the plumbing and gas scope.
Replacing an old concrete tub with a new stainless or acrylic one? Or adding a laundry tub where there wasn't one before? We install the supply lines, connect the waste, and make sure the tub is properly supported and draining correctly.
If you're upgrading from a basic two-tap setup to a mixer tap, we handle the changeover. We also install tub cabinets with integrated basins — the plumbing connections are different from a standard tub, so it pays to have a plumber who's done them before.
Washing machine taps take a beating — they're under constant pressure and get turned on and off thousands of times. When they start dripping or seizing up, it's time to replace them. We install quarter-turn ceramic disc taps that last longer and are easier to operate.
If you're relocating your washing machine — moving the laundry to a different room, adding one to a garage, or fitting one into a cupboard — we run new hot and cold supply lines and a waste connection to the new position.
Dryers need to vent to the outside — not into the ceiling cavity, not into the garage, not into the room. Moisture from a dryer that vents indoors causes mould, condensation, and damage to building materials. We install rigid or semi-rigid ducting from the dryer through the wall or roof to the outside, with a proper external vent cap.
If your dryer is a gas dryer, we handle the gas connection and certification as well.
Any area that gets wet on a regular basis needs proper drainage — laundries, mudrooms, utility rooms, pool pump rooms, and outdoor wash-down areas. We install floor wastes, channel drains, and waste connections that drain to the sewer (not the stormwater) as required by Auckland Council.
We also handle waterproofing coordination — making sure the drain is installed at the right height for the membrane and tile, so there's no ponding and no leaks.
Converting a garage into a liveable space usually means adding a bathroom, a kitchenette, or both. That means new water supply, new drainage, and possibly gas. The challenge with garages is that they're often on a concrete slab with no existing plumbing — so we need to cut into the slab or run pipes externally to connect to the main services.
We assess the best route for supply and waste, handle the plumbing installation, and make sure everything meets the building consent requirements. If the conversion includes a bathroom, we coordinate with the waterproofer and tiler just like we do on any bathroom renovation.
Granny flats and minor dwellings need their own plumbing — kitchen, bathroom, laundry, and hot water. Depending on the design, this might connect to the main house's services or have separate connections. We handle the full plumbing scope:
We work with your builder and handle all the plumbing inspections and documentation for the building consent.
Yes. We run new hot and cold water supply, a waste connection, and a floor waste to the new laundry location. The main factor is proximity to the existing drainage — if we can get a gravity fall to the main drain, it's straightforward. If not, we may need a pump.
Usually yes — converting a garage to a liveable space typically requires building consent from Auckland Council. We handle the plumbing side of the consent requirements, including drainage plans and records of work.
Yes. We install a dedicated hot water system for the granny flat — whether that's a small electric cylinder, a gas califont, or a heat pump unit. We size it based on the number of fixtures and expected usage.
We either cut channels in the slab to run waste pipes underground, or we run the waste externally along the wall and connect to the main drain outside. The best approach depends on the layout and where the existing drain runs. We assess this on site.
Yes — we run the gas line to the dryer location, connect the appliance, and issue a Gas Safety Certificate. Gas dryers need a flue to the outside as well, which we install at the same time.
