Old Galvanised Steel Pipes

Thousands of Auckland homes built before the 1980s still have their original galvanised steel water pipes. Over decades, these pipes corrode from the inside out. The walls thin, rust builds up restricting flow, and eventually the pipe cracks or blows out at a weak point. If your home has galvanised pipes, it is not a question of if they will fail — it is when.

Tree Root Damage

Auckland is a leafy city, and tree roots are one of the most common causes of underground pipe damage. Roots seek out moisture, and even a small joint or hairline crack in a pipe is enough to attract them. Once roots penetrate the pipe, they expand and split it further. Ground Movement

Water Main Replacement

If your water main — the pipe running from the Watercare meter at the boundary to your house — has failed, we dig down, remove the old pipe, and lay a new MDPE (medium-density polyethylene) line. This is the modern standard for water mains and carries a long service life. We handle the full job including excavation, connection at both ends, backfill, and reinstatement.

Pipe Relining

For pipes that are difficult to access — under driveways, through foundations, or deep underground — pipe relining can be an option. A resin-coated liner is inserted into the existing pipe and cured in place, creating a new pipe inside the old one without the need for major excavation.
